OUR FOUNDER
Synthia Dabiri, M.Ed., Founder and CEO
Born into a family of educators and scholars and following the footsteps of her grandfather, a respected Academic Scholar and Founder of the Sharif University of Technology whose memoirs were published as part of Harvard University’s Oral History Project in 2000, Synthia knew at a very young age that she wanted to have a career in Education where she could make a difference in students’ lives.
Originally from France, Synthia obtained her French baccalaureate in the Mathematics and Sciences field, graduating in the top 10% of her class. After graduating high school, she moved to the United States to pursue her education and graduated Summa Cum Laude with a double major in Biology and Literature from the University of California, San Diego. Following her passion for both learning and teaching, she was the first recipient of the Noyce Teacher Scholarship for the STEM Graduate Program (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County where she obtained her Master’s in Education with an emphasis in Mathematics and Biology.
With over 10 years of teaching experience in both public and private school settings as well as private tutoring, Synthia strongly believes that every child can learn given the appropriate learning tools, relevant teaching strategies and the right support. With that in mind, she founded Successful Scholars Tutoring in 2015 to provide students with quality individualized tutoring. Her goal was to help students achieve academic success while boosting their self-confidence and instilling in them a lifelong passion for learning.
Getting to know students on a personal level is essential to providing them with the tools to succeed in their academic pursuits. Many clients have used my tutoring services year after year, and I’ve often gone on to work with siblings and friends. The vast majority of Successful Scholars’ clients come to us from word-of-mouth and referrals. It has been tremendously rewarding to help students excel from year to year and then share the excitement of their acceptances into the nation’s top universities.

“My goal was to start a tutoring company where the students’ success was the top priority. I wanted to gather a team of expert teachers that not only loved teaching but were also deeply committed to provide each and every student with the tools they needed to meet and exceed all expectations. After years working as a teacher and a resource specialist, I realized that not all students learned the same way and I wanted to create a company that recognized that. I wanted each of my students to have their own custom tailored plan so the tutoring can be focused on exactly what they needed at any particular time. Each student is different so each tutoring program should be different. My goal is not for the students to mindlessly regurgitate information, but to motivate them to actually understand the material and learn the concepts and have fun while doing it".

We Offer a Free Initial Consultation
When you first contact us, we will schedule an initial consultation with our director to discuss your student's needs, learning style, strengths and weaknesses, and overall academic goals. We are successful because we take the extra time to meet our clients face-to-face. The matching process is much more successful when we have an opportunity to meet you and your child. Investing the time to meet face-to-face with all of our clients is invaluable and essential for us to find the perfect tutor for your child.
To achieve the goals discussed in the meeting our director will make recommendations concerning the nature and extent of tutoring that would benefit your child the most. The director will then carefully select a tutor based on academic needs, learning style and personality to ensure a good match. Each student is assigned a dedicated tutor who is committed to them for each session. We believe in consistency so the tutor can build a strong relationship and sense of trust with their student.
